The PISQ junior varsity team gained an edge over PSD’s varsity team in a thrilling 3-set volleyball match in the ASD court on September 26, 2018. The first set was a rough start for PISQ as the Blue Phoenix boys were at a disadvantage. Throughout the first round, the boys didn’t seem to have enough energy to end their scoring drought. The first set resulted in a loss for the Blue Phoenix, with a score of 9 - 25. This was enough to give the Blue Phoenix boys a wake-up call. The two teams managed to spark multiple scoring runs, with the boys starting off 12 - 5. The boys refused to lighten up their pressure on the other team, which resulted in them leading by a big margin after the second set. The set ended with a win for the Blue Phoenix boys. By the third set, both teams started off equal, but PISQ managed to have a 4 - 0 run, scoring 8 - 4. The PSDians attempted to make a comeback that would make them take the game, but the PISQians matched them up on each try. The final score was 25-19 with PISQ being the winning team.

The PISQ Blue Phoenixes also defeated the ASD Red Dragons in the U16 Volleyball tournament, winning 2 sets to none in their first semi finals match. The boys’ teams —as well as the girls’ division—secured a place in the finals. This game was held at the American School Doha on October 10, 2018. The captain, John Glenn Delos Santos, garnered 14 big points. Additionally, his attacks and service aces put quite a weight on the shoulders of the players of ASD, which led to their opponents' error to pile up. They proceeded to take the first match in straight sets 25-9, 25-17.

“Competing with a team like ASD is challenging because of their tall players, but we tried not to get intimidated," said John Glenn in an interview.

However, the JHS Blue Phoenix boys (PISQ) lost the championship round against Qatar Academy with a score 12-25, 25-19, 8-15 at Qatar Academy’s Gym last October 17.

Although the JHS Blue Phoenix boys lost the championship title, their effort was not wasted. They managed in winning the1st runner up spot. The Phoenixes ended the 1st set of the game with a score of 12-25, but they totally made a comeback in the 2nd set with a score of 25-19. What truly became the highlight of the game for PISQ was when they learned from their previous strategy and committed to making sure they had less service and reception errors. In the third set of the game, however, the Falcons caught up with their new game plan.
