The newly elected officers of the Supreme Student Government (SSG), together with the Ilustrado’s Editor-in-Chief, took their oaths as the new student leaders of PISQ’s High School Department for Academic Year 2018-2019 at the NKP Playroom on September 6, 2018.

The people who were sworn in consisted of the 14 from Grades 7 to 12 who make up the current SSG, 16 members of the different committees (Academic, Cleanliness, Discipline, and Socio-cultural committees), and the Editor-in-Chief, Ms Rhayne Anne P. Layson, of the first-ever official gazette of the school.

The program, led by Mr Prince Ryan F. Teodoro from Grade 12 STEM B, was attended by the school principal Mr Jason A. Iyas, Senior High School Level Head Mr Jojo L. Calague, SSG advisers Ms Jean Gorobat and Mr Jaypee Ladiao, Ilustrado adviser Ms Lei T. Asis, the SSG officers, committee members, the Ilustrados, and the classroom officers from Grades 7- 12.

Immediately after the induction of the newly elected SSG officers, President Franz Diego Camat delivered his speech: “The SSG is the voice of the student body, and that with the eight months [they have] left to lead, [he promised that] those eight months will be a fruitful one.”

The school principal, Mr Jason A. Iyas, also delivered his speech for the opening remarks of the event: “The goal of the SSG is to make the students of PISQ better citizens that are God-fearing, environmentally conscious, humanitarian and nationalistic.” He added that for him, a leader should have passion, honesty, integrity, and most importantly, commitment to their jobs. In addition to that, Mr Iyas stated, “being committed means staying true to what one is saying and do to their school, loved ones, friends, family, and more.”

Senior High School Level Head, Mr. Jojo Calague, also delivered a speech at the end of the program, leaving behind a simple yet impactful saying: “Leadership is not easy but it is worth it in the end.”
